To be fair to Collum, he had a good game today. Called a couple of decisions wrong, but who doesn't.

More of the same next time please Willie.

Clearly trying to be careful so we don't give him a hard time next time he shows up at Tynie...which is probably just around the corner.

Clearly knows a big 6ft 6 jambo works at the same head office as him and is shiting it in case I stick the nut on him come Monday.

Maybe should've gone to Specsavers, as he never noticed it was Hearts playing?

No bookings must be a first for him against us?

Agree with the OP. The linesman on our side of the park was more at fault today. When was the last time that Collum reffed a Hearts game and not a single Hearts player booked?

It does help when we don't do anything rash or stupid to give him half a chance to whip out his beloved red card though.

Agreed. I've just posted on another thread about wondering whether we played a bit carefully today given who the ref was.

Industrial would have been wrong today, prudent to play a style that suited the fixture and referee one year to the Hamilton weekend of last season.

Mind you took over 40 minutes to award us a free kick

Had an OK game for once - we'll probably find out tomorrow he sent half the team off in the tunnel afterwards.

And that both teams played game in good spirit with no dirty play

Just the Partick midfielder Osman who was always going to get booked for persistent fouling.

Which thistle player bounced the ball resulting in a talking to only? Sure hearts player's have been booked for the same.

We didnt walk back to the car talking about collum so thats a big plus.

I thought it was there number 6 who was later booked for persistent fouling. Osman.

The petulant throwing the ball into the ground is nearly always a yellow. I dont remember him fouling excessively so I think collum just booked him as he messed up the first time.

Also a clear shirt pull but tef waved advantage and forgot to book the thistle player when play stopped.

Being picky but thats the kind of yellow perry got last time was it not.

Yeah

Refs seem to be more lenient on kicking ball away these days.

My thinking was Collum knew Osman would be getting booked so just decided to wait till next foul.

Frustrating for fans though. Why refs should explain these things afterwards.

I said the same about the supposed "persistent fouling for Osman. Given that he hadn't given any fouls against Hamilton until the challenge on Rossi after 42 minutes there was no way the guy had actually persistently fouled.

Brave Hearts

So why hasn't he refereed all our previous games this way ????

i.e. how he should referee a game - by properly and objectively interpreting the rules and applying the rules based on what actually occurred during play

Obviously been told by his employers to get his act together.

It happens in other jobs.

We didn't give Collum the opportunity to book anybody yesterday, I think the team were told to adopt such a cautious style yesterday to avoid giving him any decisions to make. No hard tackles and hardly any fouls at all. Thankfully we won in the end but the boys hardly 'went for it' as they were imo told not to because of who the ref was. So it looks like his reputation dictated the way the game was played without him having to wave the cards about. Perhaps that's a good thing but it doesn't make for a good exciting game.

Either my hangover is worse than I thought or this is bizarre !

You really believe this ?

Wee munchkin had a decent game and reffed it well.

Bottled the penalty decision, but other than that was anonymous.

Assume you are referring to RB's arms up block in 2nd half, which bizarrely Collum spoke to him about prior to our next corner?

My "conspiracy" theory is that Collum was smitten by seeing his Barcelona winning goal hero on the park & was wearing his green & white hoops contacts lenses & failed to notice the maroon shorts!!

Not sure about "no tackling" tactics, but I'm sure Robbie would have had the team well drilled & aware to tread carefully due to the man in black.

Maybe, just maybe Collum has taken on board the style of refereeing games witnessed at Euros in the summer, but 1 swallow does not mean summer has arrived to stay.

Perhaps I'm in a minority of one but that's the way it looked to me from quite early on.

One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Still a ***** and a shite ref, imo

Depends on who is doing the swallowing

I was certain that Paterson or Rherras was a red waiting to be flashed yesterday. Thankfully it never happened.

Nah, was talking about the trip on Souttar in the corner of the box in the first half.

Looked like penalty at the time

As he did several times ref had a calm chat with player afterwards. Indeed Hearts players showed good attitude to ref yesterday just getting on with things.

Thought it was just outside the box but it was definitely a foul.

Perhap Robbie's comments, and that record of games involving him has made a difference.

If so, I suspect it was convincing and hard to argue against.

I am sure normal service will be resumed soon though, especially if he referees a Celtic match.
