It was coming for him. A hat trick in 2 weeks time and he will become a big star for us. As others have posted, get him signed.

He's fast on his way to getting his own "Legends" banner, if he keeps this up!

Said last week, find the money for this guy.

Somehow.

He's perfect for us.

Wouldn't be shocked if we had an option on him as they announced he had "agreed terms" with us when he signed.

Could just be lazy journalism, but why would you agree terms on a loan deal? You might agree to go, but you don't agree terms. The two clubs sort out who is paying what % of your existing contract. Hoped it might be a wee clue. Time will tell I guess.

The Internet

I know it's early days but he has the potential to be the best signing we've made under the new regime.

Tony Watt has been deserving of that goal. Here's hoping it is the start of many in a Maroon jersey this season.

Far too deep in the game at times but only so he stays involved.

Superb finish seen keeking round a steel pillar.

I'd imagine that is Neilson constraining him to be honest...

I was following the game on Twitter and he wasn't mentioned in the second half!!! Then up pops the winner

That summed up the whole team in second half.

Quite a lot of competition to be fair.

Early days as you say.

Just wondering can a team come in and sign him before the transfer window closes?

No there is a contract for him to play for us for the season.

A wonderful signing....hope this gives him a boost and encourages him not to fall into his old ways. He could really be a star for us if he wants to be.

Love him. He's a step up.

Dear Tony, please love playing for us and being up in Scotland and sign for us permanently.

Was a bit apprehensive when he signed, evidently talented but was a bit worried about his bad attitude in the past.

Head over heels now.

One of the rare players I think it would be financially a good move to stump up a fee for.

It's fantastic that Levein and Neilson put the building blocks in place for a player of Watt's ability to want to come here, even for a season.

Well done all concerned.

We've got a great squad full of real quality. We're now approaching the stage where any further squad adjustments will only involve players of Watt's quality coming in.

IMO we'll see more players of the level of Watt, Djoum, Kitchen. Probably even better.

This guy is a player .Classy.I only hope he settles with us.Just my opinion but it's a long time since we've seen someone who could a match winner .

I'm all for our spendthrift transfer policy but if we get any cash for Paterson it should be used in its entirety for the Keep Watt at Tynecastle fund.

As for him coming deep, he's always done that, even at Celtic when he was younger. It's part of his game. Not Robbie 'constraining him'.

Apparently we don't get that 200k until next September. God knows why. Agreed that moves should be made to get Watt though. Whether we can afford/are willing to pay what I can only assume would be at least 800k, possibly more, remains to be seen.

The current deal is one that suits both parties

He gets regular football in an enviroment in which he feels comfortable, staying at home and keeping away from temptation

To sign for us he would need to take a 50% pay cut never mind a sizeable transfer fee

We get a footballer who has lost his way a bit but has all the talent in the world at this level....we get him fit and well (so far so good) and providing he keeps his performances up and even better if possible we will reap the rewards

We did the same with Sow another guy who had lost his way a bit and hardly kicked a ball for a year or so before joining us.

Robbie gets him fit and nursed him back through good use of game time never stretching him too far and look how well it paid off.

The only difference here though is that Watt is a Charlton player on loan rather than signed with us.

However if he keeps fit an plays well for us then he may well feel he would like to stay with us and you never know what might happen.

Twitter obviously doesn't tell you how hard he worked how deep he came for the ball

He was out on his feet last 10 and had made a few bad passes and decisions but what a goal as we chased the winner

What a goal

The other side to this is his parent club.

He's been loaned out several times and he never gets a look in.

If they want rid and he wants out because he's finally found somewhere he's happy then they could come to an agreement to terminate his deal.

It might suit them just to get him off the wage bill.

Plenty rumours and possibly truths in here.

Good spot. Interesting comments from some of these guys, I particularly liked this one.

Why is it always the player that has the problem and we're better off without him. Why can't it be that he has been badly handled by the manager/s or the club.

Tony Watt is one of the most gifted players to play at Charlton in recent years and I, for one, will miss him and wish him all the best for the future.

He is a vary good player who could get even better as the team gels. Certainly we should really try to keep him
