Hamilton 6 No chance with goal MOTM

Paterson 3 Awful with an attitude to go with it

Ozturk 4 Poor as a captain tonight, ok otherwise.

Souttar 4 One drive forward near end

Rehrras 4 Poor delivery from set pieces

Djuom 4 Continually gave ball away

Bauben 4 As Above

Walker 3 When was the last time he took his opponent on?

Nicholson 4 Sideways runs and then falls into defenders

Juanma 5 Tried to get involved. Unlucky to be hooked

Sammon 1 As poor a debut as I've seen.

King 3 Didn't do too much

Kitchen 3 Not needed at that time.

Levein/Neilson 0

How do we go from Ozturk/Rossi in warm up games to Ozturk/Souttar in competitive game?

Strikers have been hung out to dry again, they had zero to work from. Juanma though at least tried to get involved, though was not great.

Do we do any work re set pieces at training?

We have to lose this attitude of slowly trying to ease our way into games with a side to side and back passing game.

Thought they were all pretty meh to be honest. The only highlight of the game was the corner routine that lead to our second goal, with Paterson peeling off the front post then should have had an easy tap in at the back post. Luckily their defender finished it for him. Hamilton probably gets MoM but needs to be sharper gathering balls in the box.

No one got more than a 5 for me.

Apart from the goal where paterson peeled off, there was never anyone at the back post. Every corner was overhit to (and beyond) the back post. WTF do they do in training?

In fact, what do they do in training full stop!

Pretty much agree with everything there Gambo - but I'd give Paterson a 1 - he was diabolical in every aspect of his game.

Hamilton 6 Ok

Paterson 2 Really beginning to dislike his attitude. What is with the sarcastic clapping over his own players.

Ozturk 5 ok.

Souttar 4 Carried on from last seasons form, awful. Why was Rossi not playing.

Rehrras 5 Clearly has some ability, although we really don't need him taking every set piece.

Djuom 4 One of his poorest performances

Bauben 5 Some good, some bad

Walker 3 Dreadful

Nicholson 3 Dreadful

Juanma 5 Much better than Sammon

Sammon 1 Truly embarrassing debut.

King 3 Added movement

Kitchen 3 Opposite of what was required

Neilson 0

I really hope we are not rotating players for the sake of it this season. Rossi should have been in that team before Souttar.

It is the managers responsibility to get the team ready and motivated for games. Today be failed miserably. At this rate he won't last until Christmas and Hearts are not going to do very well.

Can't be arsed going through the players but we saw two souttars tonight.

Poor defensively but looked good going forward.

Hamilton fine too.

Souttar was shite, he made a good run forward once that I don't particularly want my CH to do the rest of the time his passing was pish and he was like a headless chicken getting himself into bother.

I'll not mention his defending.

Tbf it was not as though our midfielders were going to do that.

Walker and Nicholson were awful

Bauben and djoum had poor games but at least kept possession

Crazy decision to hook Juanma and keep sammon on, who was utterly minging

I thought full backs ok, souttar poor

Need to get Rossi kitchen and king into that team

I'd actually drop sammon on that performance. With our style of play he is useless

True unfortunately, a lesson in zero creativity from prince and Djoum.

Buaben was utterly dreadful. If we start the season with him in midfield, we are in trouble. Oh, and Patterson needs dropped.

Soutter is never a CB at this point in his career. Might grow in to one as he becomes physically stronger but for me he is a sitting midfielder just now.

Rossi is our best defender. Bemused as to why he didn't play.

It was mentioned before the game he was injured hence his place on the bench.

When every player in the team needs to cut in on their right foot, you end up with a lop sided performance.

Agree with the OP

Hamilton MOTM for me and juanma at least tried to get involved so probably shades it as best outfield player (doesn't say much for the rest)

Djoum and Nicholson as sponsors MOTM was laughable

Diadora Van Basten

Nicholson drove forward won free kicks (he probably should have got more than he did) committed players, got a couple of players booked.

Without him we are very pedestrian.

Are folk getting Souttar mixed up with Ozturk? Souttar won pretty much every header and was the one defender willing to step out and get us passing the ball with some purpose.

Ozturk was all over the shop, regularly out of position, a yard off their number eight and miss-kicking the ball he way he was facing mist of the time.

I heard Rossi might have had a knock. Thought he was a big miss for their cross balls.

Agree with those ratings though. Hamilton was solid and Rherras had the look of a decent signing.

Souttar improved in the 2nd half but thought he was just as suspect as Ozturk was in the first

Jack did well.

It was the only minor highlight though Rherras did okay and Bauben and Djoum started okay

It wasn't perfect from Jack - he was a bit slow a couple of times to see that he should come out and gather the ball. But that's kind of the point - that he learns by playing.

Juanma, Nicholson, Souttar the worst of a bad bunch.

It was as bad a performance as I've seen under Neilson, main issue for me was fitness, which in turn caused errors. Hamilton looked fine, that was one of the only positives. I like Rherras's attitude in the first half, bombing up and down and trying to beat a man. When he's fully match fit and knows his fellow defenders I think he'll become a very good signing.

Centre-halves were both awful in the first half, Souttar improved slightly in the second. Midfield was anonymous which meant the strikers were helpless. Sammon has a good attitude, looks like a proper leader, but he didn't play well. Juanma tried to get into the game, maybe unfortunate to get taken off.

Perspective in this scenario is they've only been in training for 2 weeks, another week of sharpness will hopefully stand them in good stead over in Tallinn.

Shan day at the office, but let's not write them off after their first game of the season.

Ratings roughly in line with every other pre season game i have ever seen. The earliest fixture we have ever played.

The opponent had an advantage of being half way through their season and i think it really showed - if June qualifiers are the new normal for Scottish teams, summer football should be seriously considered in the next few years - if we were playing these fixtures half way through our season we'd stand a much better chance of actually seeing a Scottish team in the groups.

Big week of hard work ahead for the players to get themselves up to the required standard if we want to get through.

Pretty much exactly this for me....

I thought Jamie Walker should have got a run out though....... :strewth:

Hamilton 6 done nothing wrong, looked a bit dodgy at cross's. but don't think hes un upgrade form Alexanader

Paterson 3 Awful with an attitude to go with it

Ozturk 5 nothing terrible nothing great

Souttar 6 Sowed glimpses, tied to drive forward an play pass's, defensively suspect

Rehrras 6 decent debut, poorest plays

Djuom 4 Continually gave ball away

Bauben 4 watching too much of the Euro's when did he start trying to  pass 50/60 yards

Walker 3 When was the last time he took his opponent on?

Nicholson 4 Sideways runs and then falls into defenders

Juanma 4 very little, lacked a yard

Sammon 2 poor debut

King 3 Didn't do too much

Kitchen 3 Not needed at that time.

Team lacked cohesion and fluidity, 2 strikers of the same ilk do not work, need someone that runs the channels.
Concerned with Sam, doesn't offer much.

Walker does  not get involved enough.

Need a creative midfielder asap

I thought Nicholson was our man of the match.

Nicholson was total pish. He usually has some good moments but it can't just be me who thinks he's a bit overrated by some.

Every time he gets the ball it's like he looks for the biggest crowd of opposing players, decides to run into the middle of them and cant find a pass.
