He joined sevco for ?65,000 in July and is one of their better players. That's about it really.

Is it the Daily Record article? I liked the bit where they said eyebrows were raised that he wasn't in the last Scotland squad.

And where he said he'd joined one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's guff like this that makes me want to see Hibs promoted instead.

Rangers player. Like all the rest of them, I hope his career is a failure and he is utterly miserable.

He'll do well next season IMO. Would have loved it if we could have kept hold of him.

By all accounts he's doing well for Rangers but he wasn't good enough to get a regular game for us - to me that says a lot about how good the Rangers actually are and is promising for us next season imo.

Honestly i wouldn't have him back and think he's found his level as a good Championship/mediocre SPL level player.

Great player, Would have him in the Hearts team now

Who exactly would he be displacing in your eyes?

He wasn't good enough to command a regular start last season and I suspect it would have been the same this season if he hadn't moved. Not the lad's fault as he had some ability, but we are aiming higher now.

Not good enough for us, not good enough for Sheffield. Think that sums it up.

He can play hide and seek in their midfield next year

Good

Not good enough for us last year. Nowhere near good enough for us this year.

Correct answer

Would be nowhere near a regular starter and as he was looking for regular football he was right to drop down a division

If he's a first team starter for them next year in our league I will be delighted as it will show their ambition is to try and scrape into top 6 and no more

This.

Says a lot about the Ragers fans these days as well that they rave about him.

Shows how far they've fallen tbh.

He'll find himself surplus to requirements if they have any sort of real ambition at all.

The Scotsman article is saying we let him go. Perhaps my memory is a tad hazy, but I am pretty sure we offered him a new contract, not because we want a development fee for him, but because we genuinely wanted to him stay.

In that he's an excellent young player and we let him go for tuppence

We didn't let him go; he left.  He got offered a new contract; he didn't sign it.

Holt is at Rangers because that is where Holt chose to go, and not because Hearts got rid of him.  The excellent young player who couldn't command a starting position in the Hearts Championship-winning side.

Big big mistake technically superb - for that money CL must still be feeling it as he continues to improve

Okay then "let him leave" if you want to be pedantic...

He didn't sign the contract because there was no guarantee of first-team football - I assure you time will show he's a good player and was a bargain at ?65,000 for that odious bunch along the M8.

He decided to leave Hearts and turned down our contract offer.  That is the end of it.

If a player doesn't think they can fight their way into the first team, then they aren't good enough for Hearts.

Neat and tidy player but that's it.JH chose to leave Hearts because we couldn't guarantee him game time .If rangers want to compete next season he won't be a huge part of their side (just like with us)

Leaving hearts for one of the biggest clubs. Clearly Jason is on something as Sevco aren't a massive club

Some players just don't fit clubs. Wouldn't want him back because it just didn't work before. He suits them and they suit him. A bit like Rudi I guess, never did anything special after leaving us in 06 except when he came back to us

Really? I know its all but a formality now but I'd rather Hibs were promoted before Rangers anyway. Longer the gruesome twosome are kept apart the better. But that is redundant now as looks like Rangers have the title in the bag.

Staggering that some still don't get this.

If by stating facts I'm being pedantic, then fair enough.  I'd also like to think that no one in the squad is guaranteed first team football.  Competition for places is what it's all about.

He is a very good player. Shame he left Hearts but that is football.

I am in the camp that he will progress in his career and he will be a player we will always look back at and regret losing.

Only time will tell on that so no point worrying about it now.

It's done.

Not as good as any of our current players such as Jamie Walker. I can sleep easy knowing he isn't missed.

no he didn't, which is why Sheffield didn't want him permanently. As for the OP, how any Hearts fan doesn't know that Holt rejected a contract and decided to sign for the rangers a year ago, I have no idea. Unless the OP is getting mixed up with Billy King??

That is typical piss-poor debating skills. Rather than answer responses that knock your argument out of the park you quote another poster who has also had their post dismantled.
