His job should not and won't be decided on the out come of a cup game .

But I don't think managers should get new contracts halfway into a season .

He's absolutely brutal.

That second half was mystifying.

One goal. One goal was all we needed in the first fifteen or so. No chance of that when you're camped in your own half.

Brutal.

GTF.

Him and Levein and cut from the same cloth - consistent and better than most in the league but woeful in the cups because their natural caution comes unstuck against teams who treat these games like the 'one and done' matches they are.  I'm ambivalent towards him - fine if he stays because he's doing okay but I wouldn't cause any kind of fuss if he was replaced.

He needs to promise to go on a 'tactical awareness course' before he gets any new contract. Once again today his tactical genius cost us a game.

Emotions are running high but he needs to get this team to start killing off the game when we're in front. 2-0 up at home against them and we bricked it- BIG TIME

This.

I would Add Levein to it as well.

I believe he is a defensive manager in charge of an attacking team. Not a bad manager, just not one to win derbys, big games and the 2 cups.

I like Robbie but something is missing, a passion and instinct to know when you need the players up for it to scrap.

Our team plays best when pressing up field but we insist on playing anything but this approach hoping that playing a slow paced passing game will suffice

Only issue is his replacement would be a clone promoted from within.

I think we have a good set up and a pretty decent pool of players. What we need is an experienced and successful manager.

If he didn't tinker so much I world accept him more, however in balance a new contract is about right. Perhaps it's world only be for 12 months however.

If Neilsons long term contract is based upon his ability to outplay hibs, then about a week would do......

He's been a manager for 1 and a half seasons.

He won the Championship at a canter.

We will probably still beat Hibs and we will finish 3rd.

The are problems to address but our model is a good one and I'm delighted that Craig Levein is at the core of it all. (A guy who wasn't a stranger to pumping the vermin)

Like most, I hate the negative tactics we adopt so frequently when ahead or down to ten, and always think it is a recipe for disaster. It has worked from time to time (eg County at home, St Johnstone away) but imo more by luck than judgement.

But what really gets me is that it is absolutely brutal to watch. Really unenjoyable. If we continue to do it or go on a bad run I wouldn't be that surprised if the attendances started dropping. And I wouldn't really blame folk.

way out west jambo

Most of our games under Sergio were similarly insipid.

Didn't shite himself when playing Hibs tho...

Just to add I think talk of Neilson being emptied is way over the top at this stage but I think this is something he could address

Took us up first time from a more difficult league than it is this year, in effect removing at least a year from our financial recovery. Nailed on third in the league second season. Developed young players when they had stagnated under bronze age coaching and thinking. Made us over a million pound by developing a player we got for nothing. OP bang on, why would anyone even consider offering him a contract extension. Seethe is nursery age pant wetting of the most hilarious order. Careful when you're out playing on your scooter.

What a difference a few days make.

After Ann's interview with Ewan Cameron loads on here were delighted when she mentioned talks were about to take place on tying up our management on longer deals.

Fast forward to today and just look at the reaction.

Don't get me wrong I'm absolutely gutted/raging at the way we capitulated today and Robbie needs to put his hand up and admit he got it wrong.

Is it worth the bullet though? Let's see what happens in the replay and take it from there.

Agree with a lot of posts on here. Think Neilson's done well up till now particularly winning the championship at a canter. However, he doesn't look enough at the strengths and weaknesses of opponents and bases everything on his defense. Look at today - Hibs can be dangerous going forward but are weak at the back, especially with Fontaine out. After half time, the scene was set for getting the third goal and effectively killing the tie off. Instead we sat deep and gave them acres of room down the left channel. Was painful to watch.

This is how I see it. But Neilson can't carry on like this forever. Got to start winning more key games

Bungalow Bill

I think some folk need to get a grip and refrain from posting until the dust settles. Folk seem to have forgotten our result and performance against Aberdeen, who are sitting joint top of the league at the moment.

Please don't do it Ann.

FFS. Please don't do it.

I don't think he should have a contract beyond 2016/17.

He is being cut some slack because he is still a rookie manager. Providing we finish top 6 this year I reckon he will be given to chance to show if he had learned from his mistake.

A finish out of the top 6 this year or out of the top 3 next year then he has to go.

You don't **** up against Hibs.

We can handle not winning the league or doing anything in europe, thats fine. But you just don't **** up against Hibs. Its really not a difficult thing to comprehend.

Today Robbie ****ed up.

Neilson's just the head coach, the shocking tactics in big games have Levein's grubby paws all over them.

If you sack Neilson we'd just receive a similar puppet making the same mistakes.

How many times have we been on here saying Neilson has cost us the game. Yet ne never seems to learn from his mistakes. As for him saying we are the fittest team Scotland he's talking alot of shite. We were blowing out our holes in the 2nd half

This is exactly where I'm at too.

Definitely exceeded all expectations last year however the infuriating and frustrating thing is his negativity has cost us a lot of silly points already this season. More worryingly though, he doesn't seem to be realising this and learning from his mistakes.

Don't want him sacked but I wish he'd either decide or be told to stop shiting it in big games and play to win.

Have you had a look at Levein's Derby record?

Levein being at Hearts will go a long way to securing our long term success - honestly think the Levein-haters must enjoy our wee stumbles, if only to justify their pot shots.

So its Robbies tactical genius when we win and Leveins when we don't?

I genuinely don't understand the hate for Levein on here. People blaming him for Robbie's tactics today is embarrassing.

Although we didn't handle the situation very well, the injury to Djoum cost us the game and the lack of a suitable replacement.

Robbie Neilson more than deserves a contract extension FFS.

Correct. It was Robbie who instructed Reilly to play right mid in the 2nd half, for example, not Levein.

I'd be telling him if he doesn't win the replay there are discussions that need to be had.

This thread is pish, he is a good manager. Just because hibs came back to take it to a replay, dosent mean we can't still win the tie. Neilson is the man

Thought Police

He wound up Derek McInnes by saying Aberdeen's season was over when they went out the cup.

Someone better tell Robbie that he can't just brush it off and say "focus on Ross County next"
