He's an awful footballer. I don't pay enough attention to Celtic to know of they have someone decent to take his place, but it shouldn't be hard to find someone who can.

Well Ronnie the Rocket doesn't seem to bothered.

"It is always tough to lose your captain but we won a lot of games during the last period he was out."

As much as I absolutely detest him, he is.by no means awful. Celtic will miss him badly.

Will definitely be out on 27th Dec then. He usually bosses (and gets away with murder) in the games at Tynecastle, felt they missed him badly the most recent game we played them

He's pony but has managed to play us like a fiddle in recent matches. That and the fact that he seems to galvanise them for whatever reason means this is good news.

Toxteth O'Grady

Good. He won't be able to stamp his way around Tynecastle getting away with red card challenges.

Somebody else will take over that role though.

"I don't pay enough attention to Celtic"

So eh, how do you know he's awful then? I hate to be the one to break it to you, but he's been excellent for them. This season it's evident he's lost a yard of pace and another injury setback won't do him any favours in the long run, but come on to ****, "awful"?

Brown was a far better player in his time at Hibs, btw.

He's never impressed me at Celtic, even in his first few seasons.

Fair enough, I'll take the responses from those further up the thread. "Awful" was too strong a word for his ability but he's not exactly my favorite Scottish player so the comment was maybe more of an instinctive one rather than a considered one.

Maybe I should have worded it as "he's an awful Celtic captain". For me, Celtic have had some great central midfielders in my life and Brown's not near any of them. He was a much more exciting player when he was younger. He's just a bit "meh" for me and a sign of how much Celtic have dropped back towards the rest of us in recent years.

A couple of seasons ago I would have said that with Brown out Celtic will drop points but truth be told in recent times they are better off without him.

He's not been the same marauding force he was when he near enough carried them through European games when Lennon was in charge and before that as well.

My favourite memory of that tube was the day  "le juge" went through him at tiny and F'kd him absolutely heart warming it was... why don't we have this calibre of player now? For the record I hope the **** never kicks a ball again... some of the less moderate posters may wish him worse :)   Any way don't get better any time soon.

One of the most overrated players in the Scottish game.

Has been since they all went daft about him 6, 7 years ago.

Often found out against Euro minnows , not even top rate sides which you'd expect anyway.

Best Scottish player since Hartley was in his prime. Huge loss for Celtic and the national team.

I certainly think the victims will miss him, but Scotland...nah

How many Scotland games are there in the next 8-12 weeks ?

Terrible timing.  Celtic will improve without him and unfortunately Scotland don't have a game to take advantage of him being injured.

Robbie Neilson

He's far from the best player in Scotland, but by god, he's the most effective at what he does

Reffed differently from everybody else, he knows it, and he exploits it

Outside of this country, he's ****ing shite.

Dominating a one sided league like this is no indication of how good a footballer he is, he's regularly shown up by teams with some talent.

Winston Ingram

Brown will no doubt be happy with his career when it finishes, lot of money and medals, but his decline is quite sad. Both he and Thomson were excellent prospects at Hibs, Brown more so I would argue with his ability to drive at people with the ball, but he has been happy to remain a big fish in a small pond. Looks like his career is going to peter out with injury after injury when he should really have gone to England and tried his luck a good few years back.

Have to agree withith this. He's a midfield bully who somehow manages to get away with any number of pushes, pulls, nicks, and nudges (with his fat arse).   He is always found out at international level but to be fair to him there's nobody else for that position, which only demonstrates the poverty of Scottish football at the moment.

He was a tremendous player but he's kept better players out of the Scotland side this year

Hackney Hearts

They managed to beat us without him the last time and they'll probably do so without him again.

They did and they might.

Games are getting closer against them though - 2 games so far with an aggregate of only 1-2 - so any loss of 1st picks for Celtic, whoever they are, out through injury or suspension, can only be seen as a positive for Hearts.

This post kinda reminded me of Hibs celebrating 'only' losing 3-0 to them on the basis that 'at least it wasn't 5-1'.

Our record against Celtic is appalling. Whether they're sticking 1, 2 or 7 past us - they remain a significant thorn in our side.

Scott Brown is excellent in Scotland for running around pretending to be a hardman.

He's an average footballer. Nothing more.

I've a few mates who're season ticket holders at Parkhead and they say they are a better team without him.

Completely agree. Our record against Celtic is absolutely deplorable.

Whilst the two games this season might have been closer in terms of results - we didn't take the game to Celtic in a meaningful way on either occasion. The approach to that recent league cup quarter final was ridiculous, not least given the known and likely (Hibs) semi finalists.

Cant agree with this. We were fortunate to get a 0-0 at parkhead after camping out on the 18 yard line and then shat it to attack them at home and lost.

Our perfomances against them have been pish for years and I don't expect that to chance in Decemebr with Robbies approach to the big games.

I hope I'm wrong.

Exactly.

With or without Brown we're still a long way off from being able to even think about competing with Celtic on a consistent basis. Whether that's a mental thing or a physical/ability thing, who knows.
