Classic The Simpsons

Gigolo-Aunt

Recommended Posts

Was watching some Simpsons this afternoon - some right old classics.

From the late 90's it gradually jumped the shark more and more to a point where its been bad longer than it was good - its like it almost tries too hard now. Tries to be funny but you shake your head at it.

However, back in the day it was episode after episode of sheer quality

What are your favourite episodes?

Homer in clown school

Germans taking over the power plant

Grampa/Burns and the WW2 stolen art collection

Homer and the work's baseball team

Ralph/Lisa Valentine

So many great quotes as well

"Super Nintendo Chalmers"

"Dental plan" "Lisa needs Braces"

Sideshow Bob standing on the claw end of all they rakes.

Apu Kwik-E Mart song.

Some folk'll never eat a skunk but then again some folk'll, like cletus the slack jawed yokel.

Too many.

Homerpalooza for no reason other than the London symphony Orchestra playing insane in the brain.

Saw a new episode recently that just shoe horned pharell Williams in for no reason. It was terrible.

Tend to remember the quotes more than the specific episodes.

"But Marge, every time I learn something new it pushes something else out. Remember when I learned how to make wine and forgot how to drive"

At it's peak, there was simply nothing else near it. It makes you feel a bit sad watching it now, like watching George Best at Hibs.

A worldwide phenomenon reduced to pishness.

Not a fan myself but my wife and 12 year old lad love it.

Don't know it's name but the episode when a new employee (Grimes?) hates Homer is funny.

Homer: "My name is Mr Burns, I believe you have a letter for me"

Post Office Worker: "Ok Mr Burns, what's your first name?"

Homer: "...I don't know

Maude: "We're talking about S.E.X in front of the C.H.I.L.D.R.E.N."

Krusty "Sex Cauldron? I thought they closed that place down?"

Kent Brockman: "We've come up with a camera so tiny, it fits in the oversized novelty hat."

Old Simpsons from about 10 years ago was absolutely quality, and absolutely nothing could rival it.  Stuff like this was amazing and still has replay value.

"All right! I admit it! I'm the Lindbergh baby! Wah wah! Goo goo! I miss my fly-fly dada!"

"Are you stalling for time, or are you just senile?"

Enjoying reading these.

There was one clip where Lisa asked Milhouse to pass a note to Nelson that said something like 'guess who likes you?'. When Nelson turned round Milhouse was looking at him and smiled. The next scene was Milhouse in the ambulance. One of the best.

That's a Belter that scene.

Sawdust Caesar

Marge, climbing into bed: "Grampa is driving me up the wall."

Homer: "What are you telling me for, he's your father-in-law."

When Homer gets prescribed medical marijuana and turns into a stoner. Marge makes him give it up he is sitting at dinner stressing out, he pulls out a spliff from his shirt pocket and Marge asks him why he kept that and he says "as a reminder, Marge, as a reminder." And written on the spliff is 'Dentist Tuesday'.

I love the Halloween shows, Hell Toupee, when a wig made of a recently executed Snake possesses Homer, is a particular favourite.

Homer The Vigilante:

Lisa: "If you are the police, who will police the police?"

Homer: "I dunno, Coastguard?"

One of the recent ones when Grandpa is found to have served in the US Air Force:

Lisa: "You told me you were in the army"

Bart: "I thought you were in the Navy"

Grandpa: "That's exactly the same confusion I had when I was in the Marines"

Салатные палочки

The best moment ever

Agree re it not being half as good as it was back in the early 90's.  I remember my mate who had sky making me VHS copies every now and again back about 91/92 and the videos were almost worn out.

Hard to pinpoint any particular episodes but a few I can think of a few clips that had me in stitches.......

Series 3-10 is up there with the greatest TV ever made. Consistently hilarious for years and so well written - it's almost impossible to pick 5 out of that. It's crap now but was unmissable back in the day. Some great lines so far and here's a few others...

Homer - let the bears pay the bear tax, I pay the homer tax.

Lisa - No, that's the homeowner tax.

Chief Wiggum - this is papa bear. Put out an APB for a male suspect driving a...car of some sort...heading in the direction of...you know, that place that sells chilli. Suspect is hatless. Repeat, hatless.

Grampa - I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't it and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me.

Hans Moleman - I was saying Boo-urns.

I love that. You could write an essay dissecting why that is such a spot on piece of humour. Edited by GlasgoJambo
