article's wrong as I am sure I saw him play against Raith. He looked pretty good in that game - good control and movement.

By debut, i'm assuming they mean competitive/Tynecastle debut

probably (though to be nitpicking it would then be Reilly, Augustyn and the others debuts too)

Will be good to see a strong centre forward leading the line

So we all get to flinch every time an arbroath huddy smokie goes near him!

Fixed that for you.

I've never been able to work out why if a player isn't fit enough to start he's fit enough to come on later. Surely if he's going to get a run why not start him and take him off at half time. If you bring him on after an hour and he's got a problem you have to make another change.

I agree............plus more likely to get injured coming on and trying to get up to game speed than starting the game in my opinion...............if fit enough for the bench you should be fit enough to start

that's right

in this case I see it as "come on with game won, run about a bit, no pressure" just to get some touches, feel of park etc

competitive game eg 1 up or losing its likely he'll stay on bench

There is also the added point of defenders getting tired and mistiming tackles leading to an increased injury risk.

I agree but looking at it from the other angle, what if he starts and breaks down after 20 mins or so? I think the idea of a run out for the last 20, 25 mins is to see if a player`s recovery holds up but if he were to feel a tweak the shape of the team or game plan isn`t going to be affected too much late in a match.

He comes off the park happy , the manager is happy and he`s in for the next match.

He played 15 mins in Oban and scored 1 goal. Not a bad goals ratio.

Must be something like a 500 goals a season striker on that form. :wow:

Excited to see if Reilly and Juanma could start to replicate Sow's early form leaving us with a plethora of attacking options like last season. Not comparing them to our new signings as it is a different stage to perform on but Keats and Zeefuik (second half of season) really did offer this last year.

Considering most SPFL games start at 100mph, I don't necessarily agree about him starting.

The obvious point would be, if RN wants to give him 30 mins or so, he can hardly start him.

Exactly, although sluggish challenges may occur bringing him on in the later stages will allow him to have more time on the ball and be able to show what he can do against a tired side. This in theory should counteract any slowness he may have from the injury or lack of match fitness.

I'm sure RN wouldn't risk him in this level of tie right before the start of the Season if he wasn't sure on the injury.

In Robbie we trust.
