Who will most positively grow and develop from last term?

Guys

Who do you expect to most positively impress, grow, develop , who has been with us last term, in the coming months of  2015 -16.

I assume one or more of the new lads will help one or two of our present players to have more chances of goal - for example.

I would love to see Kenny from Holland start to show some quality.  Sow has already shown he can do good things for Hearts.

El Hass  would be one I'd keerp a close  eye on and not simply as he says it himself in the press.

Pallardo has proven himself and there is real quality there, I dont know if he can gear up more .  I am happy with Gomis and Ozturk as things stand

Patterson needs to cut out the occasional shocker and give us great runs and crosses consistently and he wont go far wrong.

I'll leave it there , there's so much that can be said

cheers  all

I think it's up to all of them to grow and improve at this higher level. Most of those players given their pedigree or in the case of Gomis and Buaben etc who we have seen before you would expect to cruise the majority of the championship.

I think we will see much more from Billy King, Walker and Nicholson. As they grow and bulk up they will be able to handle the physicality of games better and it will show in the chances they create and goals they score.

If Sow and El Hass stay fit I think they both have much more to give.

Ozturk will improve with experience and having an older more experienced head next to him will keep him more focused and perhaps cut out the casual lapses in concentration.

Paterson seems to have a lot to prove. His attacking threat is never in doubt but he will need to prove he also has the defensive side to his game that is required at right back.

Pallardo will need to live up to the hype.

Gomis and Buaben will need to rekindle that old partnership and hopefully buaben can stay fit.

Anderson doesn't have much to prove for me. Came in mid season and it's hard to break into a team that's on such a strong run. When the opportunity comes he will just need to show he can do what's required and I believe he will be fine.

To answer the question of who will be the most improved I think come the end of the season we will be getting strong offers for Walker, King and Ozturk due to the seasons they are going to have.

Alim. I think he'll be a standout at the back this season.

Would love to see El Hass tear it up too.

Walker will go up another gear

Angus Beith will be the surprise package

The players who didn't reach their consistent best for most of last season due to injury or erratic form - McHattie, Nicholson & Sow (hopefully El Hass too)

Nicholson has the potential to go very far but was pretty poor last season. On that alone he has the biggest gap to fill and I expect him to improve massively. Even taking that into consideration I fancy him to surprise most of us with his performances this year.

Walker was back to looking like that player that carried us for the first 7 or so games of the relegation season. I expect him to have a really good first 5 months and earn us some money with a move down South in the winter transfer window.

Last year was the year for Walker to step up and sort himself out. You saw the change from early games through to the end of the season. A real development and maturing season for him. Excellent.

I think Nicholson really needs to kick on this year. He needs to have a Walker-like season this year.

Paterson too. Needs to smooth off the rough edges.

Always thought Gary Oliver could be a very good player given the chance

Agree. I do worry he won't get the chance though.

I see what people are saying about Paterson but to flip it round how many right mids would relish playing against him? I can't think of any that would like to play against his type of attributes.

IMO he doesn't get the credit he deserves - I do acknowledge he isn't the finished article yet though.

Agree. I still think Paterson is probably one of the best young players to come through the club in a long long time. If he keeps progressing then he will end up at a top club in the future.

When we were relegated everyone said the youngsters would benefit from a year playing with each other, and they did last year.

This year they are more experieced and confident, so looking forward too it.

I think a couple of boys should become men this season. Paterson and Nicholson. I think El Hass might be the surprise package. I'd like to see pallardo and buaben really show their influencal side. Good players but could be Hearts legends if they really stepped it up.

I'd go with Paterson -- he needs rediscover his touch on the long passes which just utterly disappeared at the end of last season, and really settle down in his defensive positioning.  If he does both of those things, he'll be one of the best right backs we've seen in a while.

His first touch could do with a tune up too. Agreed though - he has massive potential. I hope, for his sake, he hits the ground running early doors: you could see his head going down towards the end of last season when things weren't going for him.

Jordan McGhee will hopefully make the break through this year and get a good run in the team as I think he can go all the way to the EPL, honestly.

I think most of the younger players need to step up with more consistency.

Most of us agree there's not a gulf between the Spl and some of the Championship but you will be facing better organisation most weeks although quality wise it's not a world of a difference but slightly more consistent through the teams.

Some of our younger players have now been in and around the first team for a few seasons if not a couple. It's time to see progress and show they are growing up.

It's not like 2 years ago when nothing was expected from them. We have a proper football environment at the club again and the management want to see boys become men. CL certainly was a man when he was 21,22.

Responsibility is what it's all about.

I would like Gomis to show a bit more urgency this season.

And I am well aware he is not a youngster.

Gets caught on the ball far to often.

Walker could earn us a  big fee.

Paterson needs to cut out his odd game here and there where he is horrendously  bad, if he does this he will move sooner rather than later.

I expect Sow and El Hass to kick on as well if they are free of injury.

Captain Canada

I think Oliver could flourish into a great player if he gets a run of starts. Sadly, I don't see it happening as he's probably 5th choice.

I think Paterson could do well but he really needs another right back in the squad to push him hard.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see Anderson or El Has setting the heather alight.

He has all the attributes, think his first touch can be dodgy, particularly if he wants to go to a higher level, first touch must be a given, not a chore.

He also has the tendency to have the odd game where everything goes wrong, that wrong it's actually comical.

He is still young and has all the physical attributes to play at a high level, if Hutton can do what he does, no reason why Paterson can't follow suit.

Angus Beith will be the surprise package

Didn't pay much attention as to how Beith did at his loan club but one of my mates who is an Albion fan reckons that despite the fact he took almost every set piece he only scored one goal, no assists and the best performances they had with a rare win was a game that beith missed! I haven't checked any of this out so stand to be corrected, but suffice to say he wasn't over impressed by Beith!

It would also appear that despite McKirdy being several years Beiths juniour that he seems to be more highly thought off by Robbie than Beith is and they are both competing for the same position!

Jahmal H-M will be one who has come in for the development squad apparently but will be getting enough 1st team games to show how good he is.

And I think Mckirdy will go out on loan and come back will a glowing report card.

I think Liam Smith might get a chance at right back this season as RN doesn't look like getting anyone else in to cover that position.

Huge season for Osman Sow. Looked to be a brilliant player when fully fit. If he can steer clear of injuries I believe we have a 15 goal plus striker. Think we will see Jamie Walker prove himself at this level and push on for Scotland recognition. Walker carries a goal threat that we haven't had from midfield since Hartley.

I'm not saying he was shit but he didn't reach the heights that I expected him to so I'm hoping to see some better form from him this season.

think you could be right that some of the U20s could come through

there is a lot of potential in the first team squad

hard to see future and also put aside what one might hope happens

I'll go for Augustyn being a big success with Juanma close

Billy King continues to improve and he's our most sellable asset alongside Walker

Hamilton could kick on too

nice to have all this to unfold

Agree with you there, he won't get anywhere near the amount of time on the ball this season as not many teams are going to sit back against us in the big league

In todays news that Nicholson has been in the gym 3 times a week bulking up and he says being in the Hearts squad now is like being in the land of giants and be finds it a struggle in training against them but will learn. So hopefully all this work will pay off for him and he will be better equipped to take on SPL defences.

Shame Hibs wont be about to complain about our 'big physical team' as usual.

It's a huge season for Paterson, McHattie and Nicholson. Will the step up a level and go on to cement their places as first team regulars or will we be looking at McHattie being behind Oshaniwa and new faces brought in to play ahead of Paterson and Nicholson?

Also a big season for McGhee in terms of where Neilson and Levein see him featuring over the next few season.

I'd like to think all of our players are capable of going up a level given the coaching they're now receiving and the professionalism and attitude that Levein and Neilson seem to be instilling in them.

If Osman Sow stays fit I think he could go on to be the best striker we've had in a long time. He looks to have a bit of everything; strong, quite, skillful. If he adds a few more headed goals to his game and stays fit I think he'll score a shitload for us.

Both need to kick on this coming season. No reason why they shouldn't if attitude is right

yeah i agree with you with paterson i just think he makes to many stupid mistakes and i just think when he runs he is going to fall over his own feet! Maybe im just to harsh on the boy and i am watching for him to make mistakes. Think nicholson just had a dip in form next season i think (hope) he gets back to his usual self!

I've not seen anything of Howlett-Mundle but a poster on the Shelbourne thread seems to think he looks a decent prospect.

I'm not sure the U20s will be challenging enough for McGhee to continue his development if I'm honest. If he's not going to play very much for us this season I think I'd rather see us loan him out. Only to a well run club who can guarantee him game time though.

I'd be happy enough to see him go somewhere like QotS who have lost Durnan.
