I like the bit about if you are not a member or season ticket holder then you won't be sold a ticket so go and ask a friend who is a member to get you one instead.

Can't remember the last time I wanted a team that wasn't my own to win so much. Hope Motherwell desecrate their corpse.

Surprised by this thought they would be needing the cash unless they're conifdent their own fans are going to sell out.

Someone calculated out that at ?15 and ?5, Hibs would have made less than ?20k from Saturday by the time the money was divided up.

This is about gaining the best advantage for Premiership survival.

They wouldn't have factored in this game in their season budget so the cash is largely irrelevant.

This move is purely about making the game less of a "home" tie for Sevco.

Hope Motherwell ****ing do them.

With any luck they'll give them the upper tier only of that away stand. Appalling view and leg room.

Agree completely, however... It's got to be one of the risks associated with a financial strategy that is based around building a massively oversized away stand which looks like a great big shoe-box at one end of your ground, purely so you can cram as many OF supporters as possible in every few weeks, no?

Same with Kilmarnock. Any club that survives of having a ground built specifically to seat thousands of away support bigots each season can die a slow lingering death any time they like, imo.

Quite fancy them over the 2 legs, possibly after extra time.

That's about the same as a good home gate for them so what are they moaning about.

Big chat on Clyde SSB about the ticket allocations.

DJ and Hugh Keevans giving pelters to Motherwell.

DJ saying it is fine ONLY IF Motherwell sold out the rest of the stadium with home supporters (even quoted Hearts as being the first to cut Rangers allocation but managed to sell out stadium).

Keevans saying that Motherwell owe it to Rangers because they have helped Motherwell financially for decades by coming to Fir Park. Also saying there is a principle and teams should not keep fans out who want to watch football - it is 'ridiculous'.

Both missing the point that Motherwell are trying to gain as much an advantage as possible and deny Rangers any leeway in what is a real make or break match for Motherwell.

Motherwell fan on saying that Motherwell offered Rangers whole Stand IF they were given 2000 for Ibrox. DJ dismissing this.

This is purely about Premiership survival and not giving sevco any extra advantage FFS their going to have a big enough advantage as it is from whoever will be referee.

Motherwell IMO will be in serious trouble if the go down the could linger there for years and hit serious financial trouble.

This is a good move by them and I'm really hoping they can do those knuckle dragging sub human filth.

Mon the Well.

Back to 2005

It's Rangers who started this petty behaviour by only offering 950 tickets for visiting fans so they only have themselves to blame. If the SPFL had proper rules in place then this wouldn't be allowed to happen. Come on Motherwell.

Exactly. The money lost by not allowing more Rangers fans in is dwarved by the financial rewards that would be reaped by staying in the Premiership, the chances of which are increased if Rangers have less of a travelling support at the ground.

Almost all decisions in life are cost-benefit decisions and this was a classic example of that. It shows Motherwell are making a determined effort to win.

Bit harsh on Kilmarnock that.

Historically they've always had a big ground and a decent support.

As a club they've suffered more than most by the drift to the bigger clubs.

I can remember Killie bringing some pretty big crowds to Tynie for cup games back in the 80's, as did Dunfermline. Both clubs have suffered badly since with fans deserting them in droves. A real shame.

Dunfermline are another one.

The real problem with Scottish football is the loss of potential crowds for teams like this.

Rangers and Celtic may indeed have helped clubs financially with fans base but these fans don't go to games to help the smaller clubs.

They go initially as we all do to support our team but Celtic and Rangers have additional 'causes' on top of the basic support.

Rangers especially tried everything in the book to gain an advantage including lying to the football authorities and the Inland Revenue.

Really hope Motherwell beat them, it would finish this season off nicely.

Don't have a problem with Motherwell doing this, they have been honest enough to say they don't want Rangers to have an advantage by having a full noisy end, unlike Hibs who sprayed some crap about doing it as they needed these seats for their fans due to demand.

Did Motherwell not offer a season ticket to the old firm fans for the away end when that stand was being built to help pay for it? Suppose a bit like a debenture

Anyway good on them for giving themselves as much of a chance as they can

I've asked a couple of Rangers to give me their thoughts on Hearts' 1,700 allocation on our two visits when we clearly wanted more and there were 20,000 empty seats in August and 10,000+ empty in April. HIbs and QoS also wanted a lot more than the 950 they received.

Never received an answer, though a CELTIC fan did butt in to tell me we'd suffer financially by cutting their allocation next year. Didn't quite get the concept that we cut their allocation to actually sell tickets to home fans. There won't be empty seats other than those in the segregation line.

Hearts are the only team to cut allocations and still sell out. Rangers, Celtic (Aberdeen wanted more in March) Hibs, and now Motherwell have cut off their noses to spite their face.

They're a pair of arseholes.  I bet they didn't slate Sevco for not giving Hibs more than 950 tickets for the last play off despite their being 9,000 empty seats and Hibs selling out in 2 hours?  Or not giving us more tickets in the league when there was lots of demand from us but what - around 15,000 - 20,000 empty seats in the Sevco areas.

Sevco didn't sellout there stadium against hibs only 41000 odds,7000 less than was at the QoS game, they think they have the devine rights for tickets for away games.

I'd be angry if they did that to us. If they're expecting a sell out then I could understand.

If they're doing it just to be wide and motherwell fans won't sell out their end it's pretty poor taste.

Hearts doing something like that would make sense since we're going to be looking at near sell outs to justify it.

It doesn't really help Scottish football if clubs are turning fans away when there's loads of empty seats. IMO.

That last bit was Richard Wilson's argument on BBC sport sound. Utterly disingenuous. This is all about survival, not what looks good on TV. Blame the historical weakness of our refs when faced with a baying hun mass. Motherwell's response has all to do with that. And who can blame them.

I'm not solely blaming Motherwell for Scottish football being terrible.

It kinda is about how it looks on TV though. The football on show and quarter full stands plays a huge part in why no one gives a **** about Scotland. Especially sponsors.

Sure maybe it will give Motherwell some sort of advantage but it's doing nothing for the brand of Scottish football that every club in Scotland has a duty to promote.

I agree they've been hit harder than most. When they built that stadium however, it wasn't because they were pulling in 15k home fans,.or ever likely to again. Sadly.

For the record, I'd love to see bigger crowds through west outside of the OF. Same goes for Fife, Dundee, Perth, The Highlands and The Lothians.
