I know we are fond of slagging off Mike Ashley, but do many of us still shop in Sports Direct?

Can't say I have for a long time but ive bought the odd football top or ball from there in my time.

I think I know where this might be going and I don't think it'll hit his pockets at all if we boycott it.

I've bought a couple of football tops and trackie bottoms out of there but that's when I was about 15, I went in there for the first time in about 6 years a few months ago to buy a cheap set of darts, the place is a dump.

As an occasional golfer with old uni friends, I tend to use it for the cheap golf stuff. Not paying over the top prices for golf gear. Other than the odd football, or bit of cheap underarmour (forget the cheapo name they stock) not very.

Nothing is organised on the racks, they are too close together. It is good if you are trying out a new sport (golf/darts/pool/table tennis) then its good to get some cheap equipment to see if you are good/like it before you go to a real shop and get proper stuff.

Never been in and actively avoided on line. Not a fan of SD, how they treat their staff or the aggressive marketing and discounting. Most of the stuff they sell I've seen is pretty sh1t quality and would rather spend a few quid more for something a bit better.

Another Robbo

Usually get young Robbo's trainers out of there cos they are pretty cheap.

And their bags are great for carrying home the shopping from Asda ;)

As someone who goes through a shedload of trainers for their work, I have to admit that I buy a lot of Karrimors out of there as they're nice and cheap and I need new ones every six weeks or so.

Sad to say that I do buy most of my works stuff out of there!

SORRY :(

Get all my running stuff out of there. Cheap and it's not exactly a fashion show when I'm running!

I can't say I like the stores but when you have two teenage daughters and the choice is between a pair of Ugg boots at whatever price and the knock offs in SD at about ?15 a pair it's a no brainer. Especially since they'll be worn an absolute maximum of 10 times. And also ski gear for school trips.

I do have a certain respect for the marketing, from the cheap looking font they use on their signs (trying to hint it was written by someone with a felt tip pen), to the way the stuff is ordered in the stores (it looks like a jumble sale on purpose) however I can't help thinking they're ripping off the poor unfortunates who make the gear, the poor unfortunates who make up the majority of the workforce, and the poor unfortunates who feel they have no choice but to shop there.

Only shop there when there's a sale on.

Do they not always have a sale on?

I like the Karrimor stuff, and have also got some cheap slazengir bargains from time to time.

The Bath store has had a sale on for the past 4 years  Ideal for a cheap set of trainers or a pair of cheap jeans.

Just to be clear, you go through around 9 pairs of Karrimors a year?

Ever thought about trying something else?

yep ive bought quite alot of gear out of SD, several pairs of trainers at good prices and i bought a few umbro sweatshirts for ?4.50 each, and to be fair their socks are pretty hard wearing but If there was another alternative i would use it but until that happens ill be adding to MA's coffers.

Also the most unhelpful staff I've ever come across, but they are on zero hour contracts.

****ing feels like it sometimes. Na im on my feet all day everyday coaching football so my trainers end up stinking after a few weeks and so I change them rather than ****ing up my washing machine.

I don't burst them or that, its just they start to stink hence why I buy cheap ones. Got plenty of old pairs if you want to ruin your washing machine tho chief :)

As somebody who worked in SD when going through college Id just like to point out I had neither achne or BO. I also liked to help customers and many others I worked with too.

Perhaps if customers don't swear at you every 5 seconds they are more likely to get served quicker and with a smile on there face. (Not that I'm saying any of you did) but you'd be surprised if been called this or that

I've got CF11 Junior her swimsuits from there. She's four. Nice and cheap Slazenger. She's happy with them. I'm happy.

Well said mate, I admire folk that take work where work is but keep out of the building game, the language is ****ing shocking and it's full of ****ing wankers.

I love the signs which say 70% off in large letters with the words "up to " in small lettering beside .

When you do a quick calculation it's generally around 10% cheaper than the scored out price .

Do use them for works trainers and throw away tops etc .

I coach and if I need anything clothing or boots wise sports direct is my nearest option and the stuff is always cheap.

I take the piss out of rangers and Mike Ashley but I am not hypocritical, I have nothing but respect for the mans business sense, he's slid rangers a dry length without them even noticing and is cashing in with minimal commitments to them. He might be an arse but he's minted for a reason.
