Hearts TV - Hearts Ladies Interview this Saturday

Afternoon Everyone

I just wanted to bring to your attention a special feature we'll have on Hearts TV this Saturday before the Raith Rovers match.

Hearts Ladies, who won promotion to the top flight last season, have just appointed a new manager this week, with Grant Scott replacing the departing Kevin Milne.

The side have a massive game coming up on Sunday 26th, as they take on Hibs in the Edinburgh derby.

I'll be speaking to Grant, in addition to Samantha Cunningham (one of the Hearts Ladies players), about the team, the big match coming up and the Women's game in general.

I know that many of you will be attending our match so will miss the live broadcast, so I'll try to ensure that there is a podcast of the interview available afterwards.

If any of you have any questions that I can put to either Grant or Sam, please feel free to post them on this thread.

I'll post a start time to the show on here and on Twitter when I confirm it, which will probably be tomorrow at some point.

Thanks all

Laurie

Looking forward to watching them again over the summer

Good to have a Hearts team to support during the close season for the main team.

Haven't managed to see the ladies play yet though, what sort of turnout do they get? Take it you've been a couple of times?

A number of possible questions:

(1). How much support are the Women's team getting from the club and has it increased since Ann Budge has taken over?

(2). Why don't the Hearts women and girls teams play and train in West Edinburgh? Is there any plan to move the team into an area where they will pick up all the Hearts minded talented female players rather than the off-putting venue out at Meadowmill near Tranent? For parents of the younger age groups it's an absolute nightmare to get to after work. Do the team have the option to train at Riccarton using the club's facilities there?

(3). Hibs, Spartans and Hutchison Vale are all well established SWPL teams from Edinburgh. Hibs, in particular, have been near the top of the league for many years. Can we realistically challenge any of these teams this season, and if not, when could we see Hearts being the top dogs in the city? Also has Edinburgh got a deep enough talent pool to support 4 SWPL teams long term?

(4). For the future growth of women's football, should every SPL team be strongly encouraged, if not forced, by the SFA to field a ladies team?

(5). Playing style: Robbie has a certain style of play he encourages with his team that permeates through to all the younger age groups. What is the style advocated in the ladies team?

(6). My daughter is 11 and loves playing football. Do they think they'll be enough money in the women's game in 10 years time for girls like her to earn a decent full time wage?

1- don't know

2-couldn't agree more

3- yes the challenge will happen and shortly from what I've seen

4- encouraged yes forced absolutely not

5- the youth teams are encouraged to play the ball on the ground at all times

6- not sure there will be sufficient money for that to happen in this country

For those who are going to watch the girls/ ladies games for the first time , don't try to compare it to the men's game and go with an open mind , you'll enjoy it :)

We'll be on air from 2.30pm, speaking to Grant and Sam before the usual live commentary of today's match with me and Jimmy Sandison.
