So what is Financial Fair Play all about then? Yet another nice-sounding turn of phrase that doesn't actually mean anything in practice?

Some huge figures there.Did not know Swansea were owned by the fans and are debt free. Not a bad model to follow.

The supporters trust own around 20%...goes back to us taking the CVA route around 13 years ago. Many, many similarities between Hearts and the Swans way of doing things lately.

FFP! That makes appalling reading. Tottenham and Swansea are the shining lights out of them all. The amount of wages is astronomical!

How can you claim to make a profit when you are so far in debt?

"profit" refers only to trading position for the last year. "Debt" in above effectively means retained losses, ie sum of all profits or losses for every year since formation of the business. Although likelihood is that all Chelsea's debt, or at least vast majority is since Ambramovich's arrival.

How not? The profit or loss refers to the previous 12 months. A profit doesn't mean everything is all rosy but it's still correct and relevant.

I assume it's all owed to Abramovich. No worries unless he gets bored.

we've heard that argument before somewhere.

Most interesting thing about that is why the differing terminology - Swansea's debt is 'none' but Spurs debt is 'zero'.

Swansea has obviously exactly no debt, whereas Spurs' has been rounded down/up. ;)

The OP highlights just how ridiculous the EPL is. Swansea have a match day revenue of ?9.2m but they get an absolutely massive ?80.7m from TV!!! When you look at their average attendance of 20k compared to Hearts (I'm guessing around 14-15k this season?) it isn't significantly different, although I acknowledge that over the course of the season it all adds up. But, just by being in the EPL, they get around nine times what they earn from match day revenue - it is absolutely madness.

It does amuse me how much that winds up OF fans but, putting aside my utter hatred of both clubs, it is crazy that two clubs of that size can't compete with the likes of Burnley and Swansea when it comes to finances. Of course they are in a different league in a small country but the whole logic (or lack thereof) of football finances just doesn't make sense. All those armchair fans have a lot to answer for!!

Bloody hell...Man city pay ?205 million a year in wages and that's the best squad they could come up with.

Exactly. I don't hear 'that lot' shouting from the rooftops about these clubs being cheats...... and seeing as no one has been able to come up with a proper definition of sporting integrity, then in my book any club with debt who wins anything must be a cheat.

Takeshi's Tynecastle

QPR are stuffed. Look at that wages as a percentage number.

And that is their figures from the Championship promotion season! Them and Leicester would be really screwed if they hadn't been promoted.

All the sums of money involved in that table are mind boggling tbf

Exactly what I was thinking too, they should have kept the gates padlocked on that horrible institution years ago.

Yet Wages are only 60% of income within the FFP rules I believe. Also a pre tax profit of 19.1 million hardly the tick tock scenario for Chelsea yet sorry to piss on the anti Chelsea parade/haters.

No need to travel to France for a Metro, Edinburgh has a perfectly capable tram line. :shifty:

Been a massive Chelsea fan since the good old days of crespo and kezman.

I'm a huge supporter and love watching them on the TV, not made it down to the Chelsea stadium London yet but will visit one day. Come on the blues.

It's all relative though. Our ?30m odd debt was more problematic as it was about 3.5-4 times our income whilst Chelsea's (whilst massive) is only 3 times their income

Are you trying to troll me? I am a huge supporter.

Cried my eyes out when terry missed that penalty against Man Utd and celebrated for about a week when we finally won the champions league.

Went to the hearts cup parade with my 2005 Chelsea strip on so don't try and tell me I'm not a true blue.
