Big Hearts Community Trust has got together with Scotland?s favourite sponsored walk event to raise funds for Scotland?s children?s charities.

The charitable arm of Hearts Football Club is hoping to enter a team of 200 or more to take part in this year?s Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise funds for its own initiatives for children and young people.

75% of money raised in sponsorship by participants will come to Big Hearts as they set out making a difference to families in our community.

The Kiltwalk begins at Murrayfield Stadium on the 3rd May 2015 and what's more it's a beautiful city route, taking in some of the city?s best views and historical sites along Silverknowes Esplanade, Portobello Esplanade and Holyrood Park.

With three distances to choose from, 26 miles, 13 miles or the 6 miles, there?s a distance for everyone, as they say!

A number of SPFL clubs are entering teams including Hibs in The Community, the charity arm of Hibernian FC. We want ?Team Big Hearts? to be the best represented with fans in our colours leading the way. The difference getting fans signed up could make on what Big Hearts can achieve is huge and for that reason they would love your help!

Big Hearts chairman Jim Panton said:

?Having the opportunity to see Big Hearts represented at the Kiltwalk is fantastic. As we have seen in recent times Hearts fans always raise the bar when it comes to representing the club and I am certain this will be no different.

OK, people of Jambos Kickback!  Celebrate the Club's promotion back to the SPL with other Hearts supporters, by participating in this great event.

Sign up available here: www.thekiltwalk.co.uk/hearts.

Sorry to sound like a bah humbug, but wasn't there concerns earlier this year that more money went to the running of the event, than went to charities. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-31623072

Happy to be corrected otherwise.

you are correct my wife did the kiltwalk last year and raised a decent amount and it was disappointing to find out that a large chunk of money went to running costs. She received a goodie bag which was not required that would have saved money.

This is what the announcement says:

"75% of money raised in sponsorship by participants will come to Big Hearts as they set out making a difference to families in our community."

I don't know if that percentage is good or bad as far as charities go, but 75% can still make a difference, I would think.

I agree and that is a big shift on last year as i am sure the wifes chosen charity only received about 50%

I heard at the very start of the kilt walks it was split 50/50.. Better doing another walk where the charities get 100% as they don't handle the monies..
