Would you take him back?

Getting alot of pelters of Rangers fans for today, but was by far the worst on the park.

A dyed in wool jambo who hates Hibs, not to mention a Scottish cup winning hero.

Paulo Sergio was the only person to really get the best out of Black. Rotten before he arrived and dreadful after he left for the dark side.

Today's performence really sums him up these days.

We got the best out of him.

He's well past that now.

Contrary to popular belief I reckon he was good during at least 3 spells for us (all around 3-6 months).

Oce under Csaba, one under JJ and his peak during Sergio.

Of course not.

His career peaked at the end of his time with us and his play has went downhill ever since.

Don't get me wrong I like the guy and he will always be remembered fondly for 19/05/12 but Hearts have moved on and IMO have better players than Black.

I thought it was a good decision to release him at time. With hindsight I'd upgrade that to a fantastic decision.

Thanks for that half season and 5-1 but we can do a lot better.

If Jason Holt couldn't get on the park this season Black would be struggling to cut the oranges for half time

I've never agreed with the only got six months out of him. He was poor under Caaba, generally between decent and good under Jefferies and the generally good to excellent under Paulo.

That said I wouldn't want him back near tynie unless he was in an opposition short or had a paid for ticket.

He has hardly kicked a ball since he went to rangers strangely enough , but i will never forget him for the show he put on in the cup final a thought he was different class that day and run the show in the middle of park , gone but never forgotten in my eyes and a jambo as well .

Dead zombie sevco have not played him in a league match for months.

They know Blackie wants, and expects Hearts to win the league. #legend

Hearts Heritage

nope, he was pretty rank when he was with us tbh,

he was only decent for the last 6 months he was here

This.

He 'suffered' when we played Eggert, Adrian and Ian all in a very similar role.

That in itself doesn't constitute a good football player. I was reading something on another thread earlier about someone who is disappointed by Prince Buaben, and doesn't feel he is SPL class now, and is basing that on the season he has had for us, and rates Ian Black much higher. Truth is if you compare Ian Black just over the same period as Buaben is being judged the only conclusion you can come to is that even the Championship is now beyond Ian Black, he has been absolutely honking this season.

I'd love to see how often some folk on here get back with their ex's based on how keen they are to take our old players back constantly.

Move on, plenty more fish/players in the sea.

Nah. Couldn't replace anyone in our current squad. Remembered fondly for his "Paint this place Maroon" vest and the cup final. That's about it.

I have no issue with the Black, but we have better players just now.

I think he would do well at a club like Partick, Ross County, or st mirrien.

These days the Hun seem to have an uncanny knack of taking once decent players and converting them into exceptionally poor footballers who have had any ability sapped out of them. Black, Templeton and, to a lesser extent, Wallace are all examples. Even Boyd was banging goals in for Kilmarnock as recent as last season and now he is absolutely dreadful. I think Black's demise is largely down to playing for the Hun. Yes, he was a fairly limited player when he was with us but I still thought he was reasonable enough, both with us and at ICT, and he had made a major contribution to us winning the cup on 19/05/12.

I have never rated Black as a player, and as a person he comes across as a moron.

Cannot wait for the day his contract runs out. Same goes for half the current Rangers squad.

I wanted to keep him and not release him when we did but that decision has proven to be the correct one.

He'll be kicking people for St Mirren or some shit like that in 12-18 months.

There's very few good Hearts players who left us for whatever reason who could come back and do it again.

Robbo and Rudi are two that come to mind. Any others?

If he was by far the worst on the park, it's not surprising he's getting pelters!

And why would you even be asking whether we'd take back someone who was by far the worst on the park in a sevco game?  I'd have to think very carefully about whether I'd want to take someone who was by far the best on the park for them, never mind the worst!

Very strange question!

Scott brown rag dolled black about all game, made him look like a wee laddie who never wanted to be on the pitch getting kicked around couldn't handle it. Liked him as our player but as always when they go to the Hun they become useless, cup winning legend but he's finished.

Fair enough comment on the player, everybody's entitled to an opinion from what they see of the man's game but I know he's done some good things for a friend of mine.  The moron thing isn't fair on him, he's a decent enough guy.

He could be a good player again under the right management. He'd have been a disaster for us under McGlynn and has been even worse under McCoist.

He would certainly improve under Robbie if he arrived here but he almost certainly wouldn't fit into our signing policy just now and would struggle to get into our midfield.

I can only base my opinion of him on what he's like on the pitch. Poor tackles, needless bookings, faking injury etc.

I'm sure he is a good guy. I think he does his part for the Rangers Charity Foundation visiting fans in hospitals and stuff, which is good to see.
