Quoted in the sun today that he wants to leave after failing to cement a starting place.

"I just want to hit the ground running somewhere else now."

Kilmarnock apparently an interested party. That would free up some wages in January. Sorry to see him go but for me he was just never good enough.

Never his greatest fan, but seems to have knuckled down and when called on has performed this season.  Craig and Robbie obviously think they have/can get better.

Thanks Scott.

Good luck to him but he should never have been given his last contract after spitting out the dummy.

Will free up a wage for someone new to come in.

Anyone any idea what kind of wage he will be on? I reckon it could be one of our higher ones since he has been around the first team for a few years now?

For showing the judgement that he thought McGlynn was a clown and Locke a footballing dinosaur? Worth a 5 yr contract IMO.

When he burst onto the scene as a16 year old he looked very promising with a great pace on him ...went backwards and just simply not good enough

Dagger Is Back

I like SR as a player. Keen to get the ball down and pass. Think previous regimes have failed to take advantage of his ability. He'll get signed up by one of the lower SPL teams without a doubt.

Hard working and loyal, but not got the quality at the end of the day. He's high energy and tries to play the game the right way, but ultimately his passes aren't fast / crisp enough and put players in trouble at times. He also possesses no goal threat. Correctly behind Gomis, Bauben, Pallardo, Holt for a start, but wish him well. He'll do a good job for another team.

I don't think we can afford to lose Holt and Robinson. If one goes, we'll need the other to stay until summer as cover for Prince, Gomis and Pallardo (sp).

As one of the few still around from the Romanov era, I'd guess he was on around 2K a week in the premiership, but I don't know if that would be cut in the championship.

He was one of the football creditors who was owed ?5,200, which I believe equated to unpaid wages for the period 1st -18th June 2013. (we went into admin on 19th June 2013 and BDO paid all the wages from that date).

This is pretty much how I see Robinson. Good luck to him.

I would have guessed around that figure too. He certainly was fortunate to break through in the Romanov era.

2k a week would get us a good replacement / new striker

Kilmarnock would be a good move for both parties. Robinson is a decent player, but unfortunately not good enough to play regularly at hearts.

Pretty well sums it up. I always think a good test of a player is whether you would be worried if he was playing against us. The answer has to be no.

Might be the case it allows us to keep Holt however if both go I have full faith in Robbie & Craig bringing in suitable replacements.

......and also to help fund Prince's long term contract?

Good piece of business if both the above applies & since it is Xmas, can we also get another No 9 to add to our goal scoring power.

might be close to being behind Angus Beith and young McKirdy soon

Robbie said earlier in season he wanted to avoid having too big a squad as well

Good luck to him, sure he'll get a club in January. It's interesting when he's played how poor his technique looks compared to our current midfielders. Never doubted his effort and application but he is not going to be a first team regular. Doesn't weaken us but I'd rather see Beith being pushed up the pecking order than signing someone.

I wasn't a fan last season as he always seemed to pass when he should have kept the ball, and kept the ball when he should have passed it. I thought coming down a division and a second full season would have cured that, and he might have gone on to become a player. However, getting a red card in a pre-season friendly is no way to impress the new boss. RN swiftly signed up Gomis & Prince, then Pallardo and even SN's biggest fans I reckon wouldn't give him a game ahead of that trio. Then he was told he could leave days before the window closed, but good on him for staying another 4 months and trying to change RN's mind in training. Never nice to see a Hearts fan leave the club, but at 22 he has to be playing every week for his own sake. I hope he bears that in mind and goes to a club where he will play and not go somewhere for money and end up on the bench.

Say What Again

Robbie told him he'd have kept him, but CL said no.

I wish him the best for the future, but it does look like the best idea for both parties. He needs to be playing, and he isn't going to break into our midfield any time soon.

Regal Kingston

All the best to him.

2 goals in 90 league games is a pretty terrible statistic for a Hearts midfielder.

He needs the right blend of midfielders to compliment him but like another poster said I would not be scared to see him line up against us.

Don't really have a bad word to say about Robinson TBH. Maybe he isn't of the quality to be a first team regular but I've never been particularly unhappy about seeing his name on the team sheet.

You don't know what's going on a training but he seems to have handled himself brilliantly since not featuring very much. Was very good when he came on against QOTS. I'll be sad to lose him. He was an easy target for blame when things weren't going right.

How so? Salvatori only scored one goal for Hearts. Robinson just isn't a goal scoring midfielder.

Can't say I'm too surprised. Decent footballer and he has shown a good attitude this season but he needs the change to make anything of his talent. Don't think he's irreplaceable but if he moves on, thanks and good luck.

His laddie goes to same school as mine and see him most mornings dropping kids of 8.50. Must be 9.30 before he gets to to riccarton for training. Time do the boys start At?

I feel the issue lay when he took the back step to re familiarize in midfield from a forward position,(maybe just thought he was not ready for 1st team)

His goal at ibrox told you that just behind the striker should have been his best position but obviously didn't want it , it's a shame as I feel he would be superb now playing just behind striker if he had kept at it.

We have better but, as he proved against QOS he's a useful sub. I can totally understand that he wants to play more often and he's gonna have to go elsewhere for that. Such is life. Decent player, no more.

He's behind Buaben, Gomis, Pallardo and Holt. Whilst he is a good player and does a good job when called upon, he's too good to be our fifth choice. He should be playing. Good luck to him.

Holt is certain to be away as well, IMO. Given this I expect us to sign a midfielder.

Complete respect for the way the guy has gone about his business over the past two seasons.  It's no reflection on him that we have 3 (or 4) better central midfielders on the books.

Best of luck to him.

Seems a bit lost so a move probably good for him at this stage in his career. Never really worked out how he best fits into a team. Holding midfielder seems to be his best and preferred position but he's not physically imposing or strong on the ball. Gets moved off it far too easily. Pallardo is diminutive but has a combative nature and strength enough to hold off opponents. Same with Gomis. Maybe needs to get in the gym a bit more?

Snake Plissken

A good player to have around but at this stage of his career, he really needs to be playing.

Another wage freed up will give us some options.  I'd expect Holt to leave as well, unfortunately, so we'll almost certainly need to bring in another midfielder.

I like Robinson, always gives 100% and is an excellent squad player. He is unfortunate that he has some very good players ahead of him.

As someone else said though if Robinson was lining up against us it wouldn't be a big concern, he doesn't hurt teams.

Best of luck to him

It's not unfortunate that better players are ahead of him, it's just shows he's not quite good enough now and the players starting are the standard we should have.

I liked SR when he first broke through some years ago. Quick thinking, nice touch and actually quite goodin an advanced position.

For various reasons and not all of his own fault , he's stagnated. He never maintained the urgency and efficiency he had a few years ago, even as recent as Sergio there were glimpses of his early promise.

Not all midfielders score regularly but I think he lost drive in his game and never really influenced enough going forward even in the shape of telling passes or being further up the park.

He's turned out a safe midfielder. A lot of these type are churned out in the game these days. A pocket of space looking good playing nothing passes time and again.
