You have to remember, he may have heard something along the lines of he may need a clean up op. He had the scan remember and it was inconclusive, so they would have had a rough idea of what was up with his knee, just needed to be 100% so sent him to specialist down in Bradford.

What I want to know is where has "raythegalajambo" gone? Much preferred him to this new guy raythetrinityjambo !

loveofthegame

As much as we could have hoped for.

He'll be missed, but with a bit of luck will be back in time for the 2nd derby at the end of October and certainly should be fit (all going well) for the 2nd game against Rangers at the end of November.

I might be wrong but if that's the op he has had then I'd be hopeful to see him back training before 3 months

There is a good chance he counld come back faster. Just depends on how much he removed. Iv had the op done twice(screwed the first on up!)could very well be six weeks before training again. He's a young lad. So should recover fast.

You seem to make a habit of doing things twice. ;)

The potential to make a huge impact on his return is one to look forward to, promotion will be won or lost after Xmas so this is excellent news.

Rudolf's Mate

If it was just a clean up, would it have been his cartilage? Also this would have been keyhole which would have also allowed them to have a better look and confirm there was no ligament damage.

Could be totally wrong.

He will not be rushed back that's a certainty. Despite what some folk on here say and think, CP is held in high regard at the club and is seen as our most prized asset with regards to a future transfer fee.

Nicholson for me.

The big money tends to come for players with good physical attributes, there's no doubt Sam has more ability with a ball but has nowhere near the size, pace, power or aggression that Callum has and these are the main attributes clubs look for when buying young players as you can't teach that.

Ryan Guald, Scott Brown, Aiden Mcgeady, Hartley, Skacel, etc. All decent cash for wee guys.

Callum Paterson is our most prized asset. End of.

He is a big strong marauding right back with pace, skill, vision and an eye for goal. Effective in the air and not afraid of a tackle. Room for improvement and he continues to do so with almost every game he plays.

Nicholson has bags of talent and potential but he is very lightweight and doesn't have the power and versatility Paterson has.

These days players at the very top are special human beings, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bale are examples of almost evolution at work. Paterson might never make it that far but he has the physical attributes to go the distance if his body and mind allow it.

Out of all of them you mention only Gauld is of similar size to Sam and in my opinion Gauld has the potential to be the best player Scotland has produced in a generation.

Messi is arguably the greatest player the world has seen and Ozil can't be a kick in the arse off 6ft.

Reckon a few of the mentioned are of similar stature to be honest. Agree that Gauld could be special though.

And before folk start getting their knickers in a twist, Sam Nicholson is a fantastic young player.

Certainly don't think you believe otherwise.

I don't agree with your view on players and size though. I think that has become more and more insignificant in recent years, and has been replaced by fitness, regardless of body type.

If Sam keeps himself at top fitness and strength to reflect his position, he will have no disadvantage over a larger player.

I used to agree with you Mothy until we played Spurs a few years back. Compared to our players the 'wee' guys Defoe and Lennon looked huge.

I get what you mean dude. For me though, it's more about maximising the body they have. If you're a wee quick guy, then work on strength and speed, but don't alter your body too much for strength, if it means you lose your speed.

It's all about tailored fitness programs.

Better news than it could've been. I'd like to see us bring in a player on loan until Christmas or go with the young lad on the fringes as for me, McGhee is a centre back.

As for most valued, I'm not not sure if I've mentioned on here before but I've high hopes for Jordan McGhee...

Completely with you on the loan player till xmas part though not quite with the most valuable bit. At the moment any one of 7 or 8 of the boys could become our most valuable player in the first month or so of the new season. An example is if Dale scores 8 goals in the first 8 games he becomes our prize asset. We have a lot of very good young players just now and with confidence comes improvement and their all capable of doing so.

Great news. Let's hope that's the last major injury setback we get. We'll see him back in plenty of time to inflict yet more misery on life's eternal losers.

He could well be the most valuable asset. I hope Jason Holt can still make his way into that equation.

I had a medial menisectomy about 20 years ago

The good news is I was back to being shite at football after about three months

With the mor emodern surgery and the fact that he is young and fit sounds like good news to me
