To be fair, our game would be in some state if our top-flight teams weren't spanking fourth-tier German sides.

Huge difference in money available to Regionaliga sides and 3. Liga teams.

The 3. Liga teams get over a million a year from TV money, Regionaliga get hee haw as far as I'm aware.

Union Berlin thumped us 3-0 iirc, but they were a top flight side at the time I think

The Nazis had and average kill ratio of better than 6-1 for all against Allied troops! They punched way above their weight in WW2. If USA and Russia were not involved, we would have been relegated....
Which bundesliga level would HMFC have been in if UK was made part of the Third Reich I wonder?! Sounds to me Aberdeen were playing Penicuik Athletuc reserves!

They're playing St Pauli next week.  Anything other than a hammering and I might start worrying about them.

St Pauli was a great weekend away! Apart from the result, the people and bars were excellent. There was also a festival on.

Wouldn't see it as a surprise Shaun.  On paper, I think they're the only team you could argue have strengthened from last season.  They've got a few good young laddies who now have a load of games under their belt and if they can now cement that and add consistency, and they manage to add Naysmith to McGinn and Hayes, who I think will be a great signing, they're looking not bad.

They'll miss Fyvie and Arnason, but I'd be surprised if they aren't top 6 next season.

Our squad is still much better than theirs.

They've one of the best, if not best manager in the league.  They've stuck by him and they may be just about to start reaping the rewards  in a time where the league is at its weakest.

Aberdeen in recent years are a bit like us - very up and own
They might be better this year - would be hard not to - but they are still a million miles away from the
glory years of the eighties
I think they might finish 5th or 6th
