Maybe someone from the York supporters club could let us know if they had any influence on York Citys new shirt campaign!? :o

Didn't York wear maroon at one time? I'm sure that my childhood Hearts Subbuteo team could also be Stenhousemuir, Arbroath or York City.

Hmm,

Who did the photoshoot?  Would it be Outs Photography by any chance?  Owned by a York City and Hearts season ticket holder? Who was at Hampden on May 19th and Wembley May 20th?

York City did play in maroon in the 1970s.  They had a Maroon strip with a big  white "Y" on it.  They were nicknamed the "Y-fronts".  By the time Roy Kay had signed for them in 1978 they were playing in red/blue strips.

It is actually theft  of intelectual copyright which is provably owned by blackie and no one else so to be fair he could have york and us in court over it.

A good lawyer would make him a mint!

York fans must be baffled. They'll be saying "Umm... We'll what?!"

It made sense when Blackie said it because of all the painting & decorating bollocks but out of context, it's pretty meaningless.

"We'll paint the town red" is a) a pretty famous saying and b ) a term for a previous York kit launch so not really going to have people up at night wondering to be fair.

Mansfield had the Hearts song re-done (horrifically) who played York in the play-offs.

I suppose, it's not really the same though.

I think Ninja's explanation sounds spot on, but we'll investigate!

Don't remember that. How old are you? I'll be 29 fairly soon, so it is possible that the more modern Subbuteo teams were somewhat more "cosmopolitan". If you're ages with or older than me, ignore the above

Was 29 until 2 months ago! Subbuteo Team 483 was always Hearts, Metz, Northampton and Stenhousemuir in my day!

Well remembered, it's the only reason I've ever heard of Metz! (We're almost the same age.)

Cheers. Think we played them in s friendly over there in 98 as well - maybe our first game as cup holders that year?
