Does anyone know if a Newco  Rangers will be able to play in Europe again if money is still owed to clubs by old Rangers?

My understanding is that they won't be able to play in Europe again until football debt is settled.

Just to clarify what I mean....  Rangers currently owe Hearts, Dundee utd ! rapid Vienna money.

Legally a newco can avoid payment of these debts... However  I think UEFA has a rule saying that any outstanding debt to football clubs has to be paid by newco if they want to play in Europe gain.

A newco can't compete in Europe in the first 3 years of his existance :whistling:

As someone else says they can't compete in Europe for 3 years. However, as it is likely to be a new co. they will not carry over rangers bad debts so it will be impossible to penalise.

One of the reasons the new co route so attractive to the new owners, is no bad debt from previous regime. However, it's one of the reasons I'm so anti rangers being voted into spl, it is a new company with a clean slate therefore they shouldn't receive the benefits of 'rangers' status. They're setting up as a new company and start out as such.

On a side note if rangers get away with, what's to stop current club going down this route?

The Newco starts with a debt of £5.5m as Green's investment is a loan to be paid back with interest

Presumably a newco won't inherit any individual qualification points that Rangers had?

I thought there would have been a similar ruling for the SPL.  <_<

That's actually the main thing that worries me about all of this.

The next club could easily be us. Our financial difficulties are well known.

It would be absolutely typical if Rangers escaped with a relative slap on the wrist for years of tax fraud, and we were then clobbered by all the new rules brought in as a result.

Wont happen to us that way,Vlad is the only major creditor and as far as i know the tax is up to date.
Vlad owe's money to Vlad. It's up to him to get the best return for his money.
May sell our asset's but that would include HMFC as a brand which keeps us alive, just maybe not at tynecastle

Never thought about that, but surely they couldn't just make use of Rangers co-efficient.

Surely we're only in trouble if Mr Romanov decides to call in all our debt to UBIG in a one-er?

Which is unlikely.

That's pretty much what I fear happening. Goalposts moved and us suffering badly as a result in the future.
