I think me and the missus were on that trip was it organised by derek crosbie, stopped off for a night in san sebastion me and the wife were totally snotered dont know how we made the bus, I remember playin footie on the beach and buying massive cups of voddie and coke from a wee beach hut. I still managed to climb the lifeguards tower waving the hearts flag.:whistling:

You think? Ha ha, you must've been more pished than me if you can't remember if it happened or not! Aye it was Derek's bus!

LIDL Hearts SC! Got photos of the flag somewhere I think Ray, good times mate.

I was the fellow who, amongst other stuff, held up the return bus at the ferry port by naively associating with duty-free robbers! Honestly, I don't think I've ever came back from a trip abroad with so many stories! I seem to remember the service stations en route got a bit of a doing at times...

Prague...the guy stepping out the bus/taxi onto the square playing Hearts tunes on the bagpipes and the fans march to the ground, we sang for the 90mins and half our after the game, magic memories

Feyenoord was my only euro trip so far. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite the result. I was in the boozer next to the one that was attacked. That was some scary shit and obviously pre planned as I'm sure I remember them marching in a big group around 5pm on the dot. Watching the dutch police hand out a few beatings was an enjoyable sight though

What is everyone's favourite memories and favourite European Trips following the jambos

I have to many good memories of European Trips to pick one

Have some good pics of you in Zagreb haha

I have been to Bordeaux, Braga, Prague, Rotterdam and Zagreb and London last year. Loved them all apart from Rotterdam as someone else had said the trouble at the pub kinda put dampener on stuff for us, my son got hit in face and all my drinks fell :( . Braga and Bordeaux were prob my favourites because fantastic times even though being on bus for days was great fun and the results at the games were amazing. Braga fountains and San Sebastionbeach with always make me smile!

Who was all in the pub when the Feynoord dicks attacked it?? Id just been to the bar after spendign about half an hour there. Collected two pints of vodka redbull, then those fandans charged the pub, big massive sway almost led to me dropping ma drinks, lol I was on ma back on the steps coming down fi the bar but still managed no ti spill a drop. Im sure the white widow helped!!

A load of my mates were, saw the photos, looked pretty nawty. Fortunately, me & 4 others got the train to Amsterdam & were sooking on a bong when we got heard about the trouble.

My trips:

Best - Feyenoord, then Bordeaux, Prague & Mallorca.

Bordeaux, Basel, Prague(Sparta) & London were great for party in and out of stadiums. (Decent results as well).

Prague(dukla) & Tallin were also great trips/experiences due to smaller number of fans. Completely different to above trips.

Zagreb and Dublin also good.

Each and every one of them has been enjoyable in its own way, but probably the best of the lot was Braga. Sometimes the more enjoyable ones are those where your travel arrangements mean it isn't simply Edinburgh direct to destination, but instead it is various means of transport taking in various cities. To get to Braga involved flights from Edinburgh to London Heathrow, London Gatwick to Lisbon, Lisbon to Porto and a taxi from Porto to Braga, with the same in reverse. It keeps you on your toes.

I cannot think of any trip i have been on where I have come back and thought to myself, "nah, didn't enjoy that".

From that lot so many moments stick out. Robbie's goal in Basle was terrific. Sarajevo was the most emotional. Some of the sights we shared as our bus headed back down the hill into town will never leave me. Lots of big guys on that bus shed a tear or two and MacMirza's hospitality was wonderful.

So lucky to have something in your life that allows you to travel to see so many astonishing places and meet so many great people.

Roll on August!!

1. Bordeaux - each day was great and the result and atmosphere in the stadium was brilliant

2. Prague 1986 - Spent ?20 in 24 hours. I remember 3 in the morning asking the guy in the nightclub what's the most expensive thing you've got. Champagne. We still couldn't spend all our money, ended up giving it away to the blonde in the hotel shop in the morning. 9p a pint, ?1 for a 3 course meal.

3. Paris - very first trip, no hotel or feck all, straight there and straight back again at 4 in the morning.

4. Liege - I organised the trip and we pitched up at the same hotel in Genk as the Liege team! The look on their faces.

Would have liked to have been in Braga and Mallorca. Sh*t happens

Just had a thought. HMFC have only lost one of the five away games I've been to - AEK (where we were cheated fecking silly and let down badly by whoever was responsible for that team selection).

We've drawn the other four. No bad.

I've only done Spurs away. Hopefully get to do more now but that was something else going down to White Hart Lane. How many sides would take that many fans to an away game a week after getting pumped 5-0 at home in the first leg. Plus with it being in the middle of the London Riots I didn't know what to expect. Met some nice Spurs fans in the Spurs supporters bar next to the ground

Reading this thread puts the the weekends events into context. So many memories of following Hearts in Europe and the seasons and trophies that lead us there.

Liege was my first proper away with the lads trips..92 I think. No flights in those days supporters bus all the way and none of this no drinking law. Think the first pee stop was 30 mins in as some had already put the loo out of order with the night befores 15 pints of heavy!

Many trips after and i'll never forget sitting watching the draw when mallorca came out the hat!

As with others Bordeaux stands out as one of the best. The atmosphere and result certainly helped.

Here's to more of the same next season....actually in a about 2 months time.

In no particular order.

Basel

Bordeaux (twice one preseason)

Tallin

Reykjavik

Liege

Niort (pre season)

Braga

Palma

Madrid

Some small village 60 miles from Bordeaux (preseason)

Also went to Boulogne for a preseason tournament as we thought HMFC were playing (had been told so by the club) but it turned out although they got an invite they messed up the acceptance but we'd booked the trip already. Still went and had a really good weekend in Boulogne.

Prague. A wee pub just off the square opened their basement bar due to the amount of us. Place was bouncing. Aussie barman was superb. Best I've ever seen. He got so fed up of us asking/shouting for more JD he went through the back, grabbed a full bottle of jack, handed it to me and said "here, do it your ******* self mate, call it ?10 (whatever the equivalent was" :) wasn't til next day we realised how cheap it was or we'd have shared it.....nah ;). Brilliant weekend but still have nightmares of those police dogs with Darth vadar handlers.

Paris 1984; where else would you get your chairman greeting you as you passed through the gates and entered the stadium.

Dublin 1988; I vaguley remember stopping at Peter McCloys pub in Girvan at about 0800am in the morning.

Munich 1989; Great trip, great laugh and a night in a hotel club with Archie Macpherson, his producer and the Spanish referee who bolted as soon as he saw the colours. Archie was a great laugh and spent time talking to us about Hearts (whilst using BBC expenses), definitely not the image he portrayed at that time.

Paris for the huge support under the Eiffel tower

Munich for the bier

Basel for the result and working trams.

The 200 a side match under the Eiffel Tower with the cheap Woolies "Top Team" football, that had a mind all of its own as to which direction to head in the breeze. The Gendarmes tried to move us on, but a couple ended up joining in.....
