The man, who is thought to be in his 30’s, was found in Broomhouse Gardens East just after midnight following a call from emergency services.
Police sealed off the area from Broomhouse Park to Broomhouse Medway.
It is understood that the man had suffered gunshot wounds.
One man who lives nearby said: “I was walking my dog at 9am and was stunned to find the whole area cordoned off and a big white tent set up.
“It’s usually pretty quiet around here. I dread to think that the guy has died as result of any wrongdoing.”
A police spokesman said: “The death of the man, who has not yet been identified, is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Officers attended at Broomhouse Gardens East, near its junction with Broomhouse Park. The man’s body was found on a grass area nearby.

Aye, behave. About as mental as Carrick Knowe.
Tell you who was daft - Sighthill. No a kid from there with a fringe. Fact.
I did a year at Forries where they praised us in fourth year for no arrests or pregnancies.
The Broomie kids were doing Geography.

No one from the rest of broomie dared to venture into the grove in your day , add rover the grover into the mix and getting your rolls on a sunday morning was a feat the SAS would hesistate to take on .
