As a Hearts supporter for over 40 years, I have seen many big names, games, tragedies, joys and controversies, some older than me will have seen more, many younger will have seen less but none of us will have experienced anything like this.

This is not just a cup final of the premier knock out competition in our country, this is a truly historic game against our biggest city rivals, it’s about supporters pride and bragging rights for years and generations to come, and another page in the history of our great club.

This wonderful club that we truly love is steeped in tradition and history, it has wrapped itself around our souls, embraced our hearts and minds and we graciously accept that honour with open arms. You have all chosen to play for our great club and wear our famous shirt and I want you to know what that means.

I want you to wear our shirt with the passion, respect, pride and dignity. Take a quiet moment on your own to reflect on your colleagues long gone like those from McCrae’s Battalion, your colleagues from days gone by when Hearts were truly great, look around Tynecastle at the faces on the walls and think what they would do to be you right now. Just woke up on the day of the biggest game of the year. Unfortuntely, im some miles away which got me thinking. Why do i support Hearts? Its been over 20 years since i started supporting them because my best friend at school suggested i did. Being honest, i didnt know much about the boys at the time except we werent doing too well. Then there was the heartbreak of 86, bayern munich( ill remember the name Thon til the day i die!), the beatings we took in the finals of which culminated in one of the greatest games i have been to, the 98 cup final. I have been lucky to see my team lift the trophy twice in person but am distraught now that i made the decsion not to go back to Scotland for today. Anyway back to the point, anytime i mention the team to anyone who doesnt know much about them, a part of me instantly turns to sales mode. Hearts are the best team to follow.. Why? Even though were not the best tesm out ther, we will always put a fright into anyone that we play against. We have the most passionate fans who arent the dregs of society or the prawn sandwich brigade, just good football supporters. We will get disappointed a lot and let down but the glass is always half full and we are always optimistic about the next day. The list is endless. There is nothing you can say is bad about being a jambo and that is why you should follow them!sales pitch done!. Anyway really all im trying to say is, I love the team and no matter if we win or lose, i shall bleed maroon wherever i am in the world. I shall never wear green tops and to to his day have never consciously done so. Anyway enough poor chat, Come on the Gorgie from a jambo in Hong Kong.

The wait is over, the time has come, we've listened to all the fate nonsense from those who simply hope if you say it long enough and loud enough it must be true, it's time to walk the walk and we know who will be walking away with the trophy and it won't be Paddy and the Dreamers.

The players and management have played it cool, no words of superiority, no rubbishing of the opposition, we've had to listen all week whilst the media try to back the underdog and persuade the general footballing public this is Hibs year, the talk from the village team and management has been how we 'fear' but now they have to put up or shut up -- so shut them up boys and bring that cup back to Edinburgh, to Gorgie and to our home of Tynecastle.

I am in the confident camp and I will see my team THE Heart of Midlothian win the cup 19th May 2012.
